手作りドレス/Homemade dress

アヤネの服を作りました。ミシンを買ったのはご紹介したと思いますが、今回はやっとツナギだけでなく上下別々の洋服も着れるくらい大きくなったアヤネにドレスっていうかジャンパースカート（それも切り替えもギャザーもジッパーもない簡単なもの）をつくりました。服を裏返せば縫い代や裾の始末も適当というか勘というか、勝手にしてしまいました。英語と日本語での裁縫用語がたまに違ったり、英語を日本語日本語を英語にして調べながらやってみました。中学の家庭科の授業に感謝！でした。インターネットで調べてたら日本もアメリカもとーってもたくさんの人が手作りの服を作っているようですね。それにとても面白かったのは、日本の生地（いわゆるカワユーイ生地のこと）が結構こっちの人に人気なんです。それに日本人がデザインした服の型紙を使って服を作っている人がたくさんいました。「生地天下のユザワヤで買った！」なんていう人も。前回帰った時にユザワヤにも行ったのに！いつもは雑貨を見て終わっちゃってたけど今度日本に帰ったらチョットもっとよく生地を見てみようと思ってます。親友のジェシカもお気に入りですし。まあともかく次は袖付きかギャザーかジッパー付きの服にチャレンジしたいと思っています。でもみんな１着作ると生地を変えて同じ型の服を何着か作るみたいなので３着目いってます。

I made a dress for Ayane. I think it called 'jumper dress.' We call it 'jumper skirt' in Japan. I made a dress without gather, zipper, or anything difficult to do. I cannot let you look at the dress closely. If you do, you will see those raw edges look...not good or right but she wore it and it worked. Some sewing words in EN and JP are different and I had a hard time to figure out and follow the instruction. I used some skills I had learned from the home-making class (?) at my middle school. I found out there are many people both here and Japan who make dresses for kids. Funny thing was many American people loves and adore Japanese fabrics. I knew my friend Jessica did but there were so many of them talking about JP fabric. Also people make close using patters which designed by Japanese designer. Funny. I guess the store call Yuzawaya is famous for certain people but still the store was very local fabric and crafts store but this one person from Internet was with her suitcase fulled of Japanese cute and original fabric from the store. I was shocked. I should go back and take a good look next time I go back to Japan and something for my friend Jessica, off course.

新しいお風呂/New bath for Ayane!

アヤネに新しいもっと大きいサイズのお風呂をパパがカタログで見つけてゲットしました！アヤネはもうお座りもつかまりタッチも出来るようになったので、キッチンの流しにはめる寝た体勢で入るお風呂は窮屈になってしまったようです。今度はパパとママの方がしゃがんでアヤネをお風呂に入れなくてはいけなくて大変です。体も石鹸をつけてしっかり洗いその上アヤネが寒くないようにするのにどうしたらいいかまだ攻略中です。

We got another tub thing for Ayane which daddy found in a catalog. Ayane can sit and also stand up holding on something already, so she seems uncomfortable in the first tub which we put in the kitchen sink. Now daddy and mommy need to bend down to bath and wash her!! We are trying to get used to this tub so that we can wash her well and keep her warm etc.

新年明けましておめでとうございます。やっぱり家族揃った好い写真とともにブログを更新したい！でも良い写真がない！！どうしようドウシヨウ！！！と思い焦ってるうちにも着々と２００９年は過ぎていき新年早々更新が遅れてしまいました。そう思いつつアヤネは９ヶ月の誕生日を１２日に迎えました。いつもいつも皆が変わらず私のブログを見てくれていることをとても有り難く思います。これからも遠く離れていてチョット簡単には会えなくても私たちがどう暮らしているか、何が起きているかわかるように頑張ってブログ更新していきたいと思います。皆さん変わらずたまにはコメント残して下さいね。２００９年が私たちにとっても皆さんにとってもすばらしいとしになることをお祈りします。

Happy new year!! I wanted to put this post with a good family photo or something. Well, I did not have a good one and time passed so quick. The year of 2008 became the wonderful year of our life. Ayane is 9 months old already. I appreciate that our family and friends continue checking out my blog. I will continue update this blog to let everyone know what is going on in my life and share the happy moments with you. Please continue leaving me comments sometimes! We wish 2009 will be the wonderful year to us and you too.

アヤネとの初めてクリスマス！/First Christmas with Ayane!!

アヤネが生まれて初めてのクリスマスでした。感謝祭はおばあちゃんのところだったのでクリスマスはうちでプレゼントを開けてご飯を食べました。アヤネはちゃんとクリスマス用のパジャマを着ていい子にイブの夜早く寝たし、やっぱり誰よりもいっぱいのプレゼントをもらいました。服にオモチャにDVD。それも家族以外のママとパパの職場の人たちからも頂きました。パパは「ママが使ってるカメラだから（特にブログやアヤネノ成長期のため）パパのカメラが欲しい！！」という事で弟のジョンからママ情報を経てカメラをもらいました。ママはなんとエンジンスターターをパパからもらいました。マイナス10度の朝でもわざわざ外に行かなくても仕事に行く前に車を暖めておくことが出来ます。再来年の2010年は日本のおばあちゃんのところでお正月は迎えたいナー。

It was our first Christmas with Ayane. We opened presents and ate meal together. Ayane got more presents than anybody else since she went to bed with Christmas PJs on and had been a very good girl. Clothes, toys, DVD, and Cabbage patch kids doll!! Many mommy and daddy's friends nicely gave her presents. We are very thankful for that. Daddy got his own camera from Jon. Daddy says he wants his own camera since mommy use our camera as hers because of her blog and taking more photos of Ayane. Mommy got a car starter from daddy. We now don't have to go outside in the 0 F temperature to warm up our car anymore!! I hope we can visit family in Japan next Christmas.

３人目のサンタさんはジョンおじさん？/3rd Santa was Uncle Jon??

昨日は家族お付き合いをしているクラズビー一家のクリスマスパーティーへ行きました。もちろんサンタはジョンおじさんでしたがアヤネや他の子供たちには内緒です。クラズビーのおじさんとおばさんからも素敵なプレゼントをもらいました。今回はジョンおじさんがサンタということもあってなかなかいい写真が撮れました。やっぱりアヤネはサンタさんをジロジロ見てまして、ジョンおじさんはもうちょっとでサンタの髭をアヤネにとられるところだったっと言ってました。ママとパパもサンタのおひざに乗ってクリスマスに欲しいものをサンタに頼みました。

We were invited to the Clasby's Christmas Eve party. The Clasby family is daddy's family friend from their old neighborhood. Of course Santa was Uncle Jon like I said before but it was a secret for Ayane and other kids. She got a nice present from Mr. and Mrs. Clasby too. Ayane finally got a good shot with Santa this time since he was you know who (the Jon-ta) was Santa and we could take a time with him to take a good shot. Well, she was turning and checking him around. Jon-ta said she almost ripped off his white beard and it could be a disaster. Mommy and daddy sat down on Santa's lap and asked him what we want for Christmas.

クリスマスツリー/Christmas Tree

まだ過去に２回か３回しか出していませんが今年はチョット遅れてクリスマスツリーを出しました。クリスマスまでもう１週間もないのに。こちらの人はもう感謝祭の後から１２月のはじめにかけてクリスマスツリーを出して、それからはクリスマスプレゼントを買うのに必死になります。

We put our (fake) Christmas tree out. People here put their trees out after Thanksgiving Day or at the beginning of December, then start going crazy about buying presents.


感謝祭はコチラでは「クリスマスよりビッグイベントだ！」という人もいるくらいで、感謝祭が終わらないとクリスマスは始められない様な感じになっています。で、もう感謝祭の次の日から早速クリスマスショッピングを始めます。普通感謝祭の次の日の金曜日は「ブラックフライデー」と言います。ブラックフライデーとはようするに店の収入が赤から黒字になるってことです。今年はウォルマートという世界最大のディスカウントスーパーマーケットの定員が開店時にドット入ってきた１００人以上のお客さんに踏み潰され亡くなるという事件もありました。その混雑がイヤで感謝祭前に全部ショッピングは済ませるっていう人もいます。アメリカではいくらか金額を決めてその金額内でプレゼントを買います。だから３個のときもあればその年に子供が欲しい物が高かったら１個になりもします。私たちはもう大人になっているので買いたい物を家族に買います。パパはツリーの下に沢山プレゼントが置きたいがためにプレゼントを買ったりもします。やっぱりアメリカのクリスマスツリーの下のプレゼントを家族に渡したり開けていくっていう私にはまだ新しいし、この習慣をエンジョイしているのでやっぱりクリスマスショッピングにパパと行ってしまうママなのです。

I realized some people say Thanksgiving Day is more important and bigger than Christmas here, and cannot start haveing Christmas spirit until Thanksgivng Day is over. Well, the next day, Friday after Thanksgiving day is called 'Black Friday" here in US and people start going shopping CRAZY. The meaning of Black Friday is pretty much the sales is going to be in the black from red because of Christmas shoppers. This year a worker from Wal-Mart which is the biggest discount supermarket in the whole world died by more than 100 of people who were coming into the store stepped over him. So some people finish Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. Not like Japan kids here oten get more than one present. If the kid wishes a big and expensive stuff for Christmas maybe one but parents usually have budget, I think. Maybe my parents gave us one present and others got more than one, but I don't think so. Daddy like to buy presents just because he wants to put many presents under the tree. I am still new and like this custom of being able to get and open more than one present, so I like to go shopping with daddy too.

たっち パート２/Standing up-2

一人遊びはだいぶ前からしているんですがアヤネを’パック＆プレイ’というものの中に入れたりしています。って檻の中に入れているんですねー。なーんて親なんでしょう。コチラではよく使うものらしいです。私たちもベイビーシャワーで２つも頂きました。寝返りやらお座りそしてハイハイが出来る様になってからよく使うようになりました。って滅多に入れないけどパパとママが家事をしなくちゃいけないときやなんかにチョット入っていてもらってます。言い訳ですね。ベイビーベットも結構前に立ち上がっても落ちないようにベットの位置を低くしました。先日アヤネがソファーに摑まって立っているところをご紹介したんですが、今日はパック＆プレーの中で顔を出して立ったのは初めてでした。それもケタケタ笑って「見て見て！！こんな中に入れられてもすぐ出れる様になるからネーダ！」って立っている様で可愛くてもちろんブログに載せる事にしました。

Ayane has been playing with toys by herself for a while, sometimes in the 'Pack'n Play' thing. Well, the cage. What a wonderful parents we are!? It seems a major thing for parents to have in US. We got two of them from friends at the shower. We have been putting her in there since she started turning over, sitting up and crawling. We don't or cannot put her in there too often (she cries) but especially when we need to do chores and a break (excuse, off course). We have already lowered the crib bed while ago. She does stand up holding onto something like ottoman I posted the other day. But today it was the first time we saw her standing in the Pack'n and Play giggling as if saying "You cannot keep me in here forever. Soooon I will be OUT!!" So cute and decided to post this event.

おんぶひも/Baby carrier

また親バカなんですが、初めてアヤネがおんぶひもで抱っこされたまま寝てしまいました。そのアヤネがまた可愛くて仕方なくブログにポストすることにしました。家族以外の方が見てくれていたらよっぽど馬鹿だと思われるでしょうが。

I decided to post about the fact Ayane fell asleep in a baby carrier for the first time. I know people who are not my close family would say something about me posting just her falling asleep in the sling but could not resist. She was too cute not to say anything about this event.

昔一緒に働いていたヒロコ先生に頂いたおんぶひもをできるだけ使うようにしていました。アヤネがあんまり長いこと入っていたがらないので、いつも抱っこしたり下ろしたりになっていまっていたんですが、その日は殊の外下ろされるのを嫌がり泣くのでおんぶひもで抱っこしたままアヤネの得意ではない掃除機がけもして家の中を片付けました。そしたら寝ちゃいました。さんざんアヤネが生まれる前も生まれてからも、どのおんぶひもが良いか？スリングが良いか？って迷って友達ともいろいろ試したりしていたんですが、結局のところどれも買わずにそれにせっかくもらったのに活用しきれていなかったんです。

My former co-worker Hiroko-sensei and I have been trying to use it. Ayane did not want to stay in there for a long time so I had to take her out, put her in, and take her out..again and again and again. That day she extremely hated to been put down so I decided to put her in the carrier and start doing things around the house even I knew she is not good at the noise from the vacuum cleaner. Then she fell asleep. I was very much happy about her not even crying but falling asleep in the carrier since I had been surfing Internet and going to many stores many times to figure out which carrier or sling is good for me but ended up not buying any or could not use the one I got from Hiroko much.

サンタさんとアヤネ/Santa experience!

先週末サンタさん初体験でした。こちらアメリカでは１２月になるとクリスマス前の週末や保育園やなんかでもクリスマスパーティーみたいなものが催されてサンタがプレゼントを持ってやって来ます。プレゼントは親が買って用意するかお金を渡すと用意しておいてくれます。サンタさんは（ちょっとサイズの大きめな）男の人が「今年もサンタさんお願いー！！！」って頼まれます。ジョンおじさんもクリスマスイブのパーティに頼まれています。

Ayane met Santa for the first time. What I have been finding out things in US around this holiday season is people have parties on weekends in December before Xmas. People even arrange Santa to come (off course REAL Santa!!) who has Santa suits on and usually a man with good size is asked to be a Santa "Pleeeeeease be a Santa this year again!?." He shows up with Christmas presents which usually parents had prepare for the parties or give money to someone who is having the party and prepares for their kid at the party as if the present is from SANTA!! Uncle Jon was asked to a Santa for this year's Xmas eve.

アヤネがサンタさんとどうだったかというと、普通はチャンとサンタさんのおひざに座ってパパかママがパシパシと「シャッターチャンス－！！」って写真を撮るはずだったんです。写真を見て頂けるとわかると思いますが、サンタさんのフカフカおひげ気になってしょうがないのか一向にカメラなど見てくれませんでした。

How Ayane did with Santa!? She was supposed to sit nicely on Santa's lap and daddy was supposed to take good photos of her with Santa for the first time. No, no, no. She was like "What is this white fluffy stuff?" "Who is this?" "Santa who?" "Let me show your face!!" She was trying to turn around, touch his beard, and find out who was holding her. No good shot with her first Santa. Instead these pictures are the ones we got.

アヤネはもう２人目のサンタさん体験をしてしまいました。というのも昨日は保育園にもサンタが来ました。サンタさんはママとも一緒に働いていてママにいつも良くしてくれるメインテナンスのスタンさんでした。クリスマスイブには３人目のサンタさんに会うことになります。さて今年のアヤネの生まれて初めてのクリスマスには何人のサンタさんに会うのでしょうか。

Well, she met another? Santa today at her Day Care today. He is, the another Santa is Stan form work who works with mommy and daddy and who is always very nice to mommy and daddy. Very soon Ayane will see 3rd Santa for this year who is Uncle Jon. She is still a baby but this is a BIGGEST secret for Ayane until..who know when until she will find out who the Santa really is or if he really exists so I cannot let her see this post until then.

ハイチェア－/Stokke high chair

アヤネ誕生のお祝いに日本にいる家族から頂いたストッケの椅子に座ってご飯を食べ始めました。まきはのママがこちらに来てくれた時に買いに行きました。このいすのコンセプトは赤ちゃんも家族と一緒にテーブルについて食べる！！ことです。便利なこともあるけどほかのトレーが付いたイスの様にトレーから食べちゃって家族から別々になってしまわない！？というみたいな事です。っていってもとうの私もパパも自分たちのゴハンを作ったり食べれる状態ではないのですが。

Ayane has been using STOKKE high chair which my close family got for Ayane. This chair seems popular in Japan, I saw some photos of people using this same chairs in Japanese baby books. Well, this chair was designed by a guy from Europe (I forgot which country, maybe Sweden no I don't know somewhere around there I believe) and the concept is the baby also joins and share the dining table. Usually the regular high chair have a tray attached so that the messy baby food stays there and it is convenient but the baby tends to be separated from the family. Tell you the truth, it is too busy for mommy and daddy to cook their own food to eat with her at the dinning table when she is eating. Well, we will make it happen soon!!
