Brushing teeth and gum!
Ayane's 2nd bottom middle tooth is out now too so we have been brushing her teeth and gum! Not a toothbrush but one from the store with gel and rubber cap you can put on your finger. I am not exactly sure what she is doing but she sometimes move an object she is holding and looks like the thing we brush her teeth and gum back and forth in her mouth. Maybe she is enjoying the feeling or the sound she makes!?. Her tooth is coming out in straight. I wonder if they will straighten out over time??

Nina-ningyou
The day after Setsubun is Risshun which is usually February 4th. Pretty much it means spring is coming now in our Japanese? or some type of Asian calender. We divide one year into 24 terms, I think. Anyway, in Japan we usually decorate with Hina-Ningyou (traditional Japanese dolls) for Girls' Festival on March 3rd every year if you have a girl in your family. We keep them out for a month and put them away right after the festival. I had this bunny thing for myself who is the girl in my family and I put them out here in US. I felt strange and happy about decorate Hina-Ningyou for Ayane but not me although she was very much interested in the box the dolls come from! It was fun and I felt love. Ayane turned 10 months old a few days ago.

節分/Setsubun
It was Setsubun the other day, usually February 3rd. It's a part of seasons we divide into, I believe 24, in Japan. We throw beans out of the door to get rid of evil out of the house? or avoid the evil spirit to come in. Then try to let the luck into the house. We shout out saying "Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!" When you buy a pack of beans around this time, a mask of evil comes with it so that someone from your family can wear it and play the role of the evil. The someone get beans thrown at. We also eat beans, I believe soybeans. You have to eat the number of your age. If you are 30, you eat 30 beans. If you eat 1 extra, you are supposed to have better health and don't get sick all year. I ate more than 1 extra. I hope I won't get sick this year. Well, daddy who was supposed to put the mask on was at work, so Ayane enjoyed playing with that mask my mom set to us and I enjoyed, more like force myself to eat more than 35 beans!

Ayane's 1st Haircut
Ayane had her first haircut. She did SOOOOOOO good sitting on mammy's laps and having her first haircut. It was just a trim on her bangs and back. The main reason for this haircut was for her bangs which are touching her eyes. And there is a spot with the wicked long hair on the back she had it there from the birth. I took her to Dave the barber! He cuts our students' hair from the school I work for. As a part of my joy, I make many appointments for my students. He's been very nice and very patient working with ME. At his place there is this area on the wall with photos of kids having haircut from Dave. I want to put her photo there too. We saved her hair.
