手作りおしゃぶりホルダー/Pacifier holder

イェーイ！自分でおしゃぶりホルダーを作れちゃいましたー！！緑の方は市販のもので、ピンクのが私が作ったもの。ネコちゃんのクリップは日本で買いました。リボンの上のところと下のところはミシンで縫って、下のところにはスナップをつける道具を使ってぷっちんボタンつけました（１４ドルの大枚アヤネのために？自分がほしくて！！はたいちゃいました）。

I made a pacifier clip for Ayane!!!!! I bought the green one and I made the pink one; I got the kitty clip from Japan. I sewed the top and bottom parts and put a snap at the bottom ( I spent $14 for a snap fastener, Oops!!).

Oktoberfest in Harvard Square

ハーバードスクエアーのオクトーバーフェストに行ってきました。学生のときからハーバードスクエアーでの催し物は好きでよく行っていましたが、いつも詳しく何のフェスティバルなのか調べないで行っていました。今回のはドイツのミュンヘンでやるオクトーバーフェストのアメリカバージョン。９月の終わりから１０月の初めにやるそうで、ドイツでは１６日間もやる世界的に有名なお祭りだそうです。お酒は決まった所でしか飲めなくて歩行者天国になっている道の真ん中にイキナリ柵で分けて机と椅子に座って飲んでいました。小さいものを売っている店や地元のレストランがテントで食べ物を売っていました。そんな大きくもないハーバードスクエアーにいくつかのステージを設置してミュージシャンたちが演奏していました。ビデオのはLoyd Family Players です。私は個人的にとっても気に入って調べたらカリフォルニアの方ののグループのようです。

We enjoyed Oktoberfest in Harvard Sq. today. I always like any events in Harvard Sq. since I was in college. There were not many people drinking beer on the street because simply we cannot do that. So there was the area blocked with the fences in the middle of the street with chairs and tables so that people can drink there, I guess. It was not really Oktoberfest with BEER I thought but it's always fun to see performers, food, stores and atmosphere. I love Cambridge, MA where I studied and lived away from home in Japan,my neighborhood. The performer in the video was Loyd Family Players base in CA which I really liked it.

先週 Rose F. Kennedy Greenway に行ったときにチャイナタウンで一緒に写真を撮ったこの人をハーバードでも発見！！　この人来年のチャイニーズニューイヤーの時にやるイベントの宣伝をしているんです。このお姉さんも私みたいに写真とってました。ヨカッタ私だけじゃなくてそういう人！

I found this same guy there. The guy from Chinatown when I visited Rose F. Kennedy Greenway last weekend. This person was advertising the next Chinese New Year even.

中耳炎で散歩でサッサフラス！/Ear infection & Sassafras

実は今日仕事を早退しアヤネを連れてキレイな空気を吸いに近くの公園に散歩しに行きました。私は朝から仕事だったのでパパがアヤネをお医者さんのところに連れて行きました（実は２週間で今日が３回目）。そしたら長い間風邪を引いていたから中耳炎になってるって言われちゃいました。薬を飲む羽目になり、保育所は薬を飲み始めて２４時間は来ちゃダメって言われちゃうしパパはあさってから出張で日本に行くのでその前は忙しいのでママが早退しました。薬はまずそうな顔をしてちょっと泣き泣き頑張って飲みました。かわいそうだったけれど「早くよくなって！」とママも頑張って飲ませました。熱は出なかったし鼻水に咳、ちょっとゼーゼーいってるくらいです。ただ大量の鼻水でしたけど。

I left work early and took Ayane to Pond Meadow Park to get some nice air. She was diagnosed with ear infection today. She's been sick since 9/18/08. For 2 weeks with runny nose, cough, congestion... Daddy needed to go to work since he is leaving for Japan on Wednesday to recruit people for the school. Well, the Day Care says no for 24 hours after the first med. So Ayane spend time with mommy today at home. She was making faces for medicine and cried a little. I tried hard for the first time giving my daughter a medicine telling myself this makes her feel better!! Ayane tried hard too. No fever so far but tons of runny nose and drooling! I have the congestion.

サッサフラスは何ナノって！？日本語訳はやっぱりサッサフラでしか出てきませんでしたが、仕事の関係で調べたただの木です。ハーバード大学が所有する木樹園の９月のハイライトの木でした。生徒たちを週末そこに連れて行かせているんです。　こんな面白い木だったら自閉児の子供たちにもわかりやすくいいんでわないカナっと。アヤネが生まれる前にわたしのママも連れて行ったしアヤネも連れて行きました。サッサフラスは木の幹や根っこがアメリカで人気のルートビールという炭酸飲料に匂いが似ていることで有名だそうです。木樹園で教えてくれたのは匂いのことではなくて（アメリカでは誰でも知っていることなのかも）、１本の木に３種類の違った形をした葉っぱがついていることと葉っぱの匂いをかぐとレモン系のいいニオイがするってことでした。前回この公園に来たときに１ヵ所サッサフラがあるところを見つけたんだけど今回はよく見るとあちらこちらにありそれも１つの茎から３種類の違う葉がついているやつを見つけて一人で興奮したっていうだけなんです。レモンの匂いもしてたし。紅葉がだいぶ始まっています。

What's up with Sassafras!? I found out about this tree at Arnold Arboretum which Harvard University owns. It's work related. I arrange my students to go there for the field trips on weekends trying to make the trips educational and fun. Sassafras was the tree of the month (September) there. So, they said that 3 different shapes of leaves grows on this tree and the leaves smells like...Lemon!! Lots of people knows about the smell of the bark or roots but not leaves or smell of the leaves. I found some trees a the park I took Ayane before but I found a lot there today and the one in the photo above. Pretty exciting to me! Besides colors are changing here in MA.

Rose F. Kennedy Greenway

Rose F. Kennedy Greenwayという所に行ってきました。と言っても全然知らないところに行ったわけではなくてボストンの昔の高架橋の高速が走っていたところです。その高架橋をやめて地下に高速を走らせました。高速の上り下り３車線ずつあったくらいの広いところで、そこをずっと歩ける歩道になっています。

わかるカナ？芝生のところにビルの間を抜けて高架橋があったんです。そこがみんなこんなキレイなところになりました。でもその両横には高架橋の下を走っていた車道がまだあります。

Greenwayっていうくらいなのでたくさん芝生のところや花や草木をきれいに植えたところそしてチョッとした並木道になっているところもありました。

いきなり噴水がGreenwayの真ん中から出てきたり、子供が好きそうなエリアになっているところもありました。行った日はオープニングの日だったので、マーケットや催し物をしてました。今回マサチューセッツ州の有料高速公団が高速道路の工事を終えたので今度はこのGreenwayの管理委員会がこのエリアに博物館や庭園、YMCA、Art/Culture centerなども作るらしいです。

スタートは同じ仕事場をやめて日本に帰ることになったホツキ君とのお食事でした。Greenwayは中華街から私たちにはお馴染みのQuincy Marketまであるきました。

クマちゃんミラー/Bear mirror

クマちゃんミラーを買ちゃいましたー！いとこのマキちゃんが使ってたんです日本に帰ったとき。クマちゃんもちょっと違ってミラーは長方形だったかも。超カワイイんだけど、たまにミラーに映ったクマちゃんや自分が振り向いたときにそこにいるクマちゃんに「わっ！！」っと驚いちゃうことがあって自分で超オバカだなーと思ってます。

I found this mirror looks like the one my cousin was using in Japan. Well, I love this mirror but this bear sometimes scares me when I see his face in the back mirror or when I look back to see Ayane or if there is anyone behind my car. I forget about the mirror was there. I mean somehow his face has an impact on me, that's all. Ayane always looks into anythings with a face so I guess it's a human nature thing???

あとパパが素敵なものを買ってきました。こんなお姉ちゃんオモチャでアヤネは遊べるのー？って思ったんですが意外にしっかり遊べてます。やっぱりちょっとまだアヤネは小さくて沈んでるみたいに見えますけど。本のページのようにめくる動物の写真の付いたのがあるんですけど、なんてうちの子は賢いのでしょう！！ちゃんとめくって写真もちゃんと見て興奮したりしてます。中心にある座るところがくるくる中で回るからいろんなおもちゃで遊べます。アヤネはしっかり好きなおもちゃを見つけていろいろなタイプのもので遊んでます。やっぱりお気に入りはふたつ。ボタンを押すと音の出るものとクルクル回すと音の出るもの。ボタンのが＃１かなやっぱり。　

Daddy bought something nice for Ayane. "Oh, isn't she still too young for that!?" once I thought but she looks comfortable sitting in there and uses all toys. She even plays with the one looks like a book. She turns the page and looks at the photos of animals too. I think her favorites right now are ones make sounds.

アヤネが風邪ひいたー！！！/SICK?

アヤネに風邪をひかせてしまったかもー（T_T)　ブログなんてやってる暇じゃないんだけど、「とうとう来たー！誰か助けてー！！」って感じなんですよ。親の力量が試される時が。昨日の夜ちょっと寒かったから。風邪とかでなくてちょっと寒かったから鼻水出ちゃってるくらいで明日には治ってくれないかなーと思っています。私も鼻水出ているし。保育園の赤ちゃんクラスのお友達２人ともかぜひいてるって今日言われました。今日は長袖着させて暖かくして行かせました。こちらにはとうとう秋が来たって感じです。日本はどうですかー？

Ayane might got cold!!! (T_T). No time for blogging but I am thinking "this is it! This is the time I will be on the test how good I can take care of her. HELP!!! It was cold last night. I hope she will stop coughing and runny nose by tonight or tomorrow. Her friends from Day Care both have cold they said. So I let her wear long pants and shirts for today. Fall is right there. How is in Japan? I bet it still so hot and humid there.

おすわり＋離乳食＋ブランコ/New chair and Baby food and Swing

ちゃんとした椅子でわないけどアヤネは座れるようになりました。目の前におもちゃがあるのにちゃんと前向かないで「苦しくないの！？」って思うくらい下を向いて下に置いてあるおもちゃを取ろうとするというか触ろうとするんです。保育園でオモチャが椅子の周りににいっぱいあるからかも、それにうちのいすみたいにトレーとおもちゃが付いてないから。

Ayane sits now, not the high chair though. She had started sitting on this type of chair at her day care first. The one there doesn't have a tray and toys around her chair so she tries to twist herself a lot (looks uncomfortable to me) and touch things around her chair.

パパはアヤネに離乳食も与え始めました。口はもごもごするけどまだ哺乳瓶みたいに目の前においても口はまだ開きません。食べ物だってわかってないんです。私にも離乳食をあげてみろって言うんだけど、私ってこう..特に離乳食なんて赤ちゃんの知らないことはちゃんとしっかり調べてハッキリ、「自分はどうこうするって！」なってからじゃないと事を始めなかったり結局の所ことを上手くできなかったりするんですよね。キチキチっと！A型ですから。でもちょっとナマケ気味かも。

Daddy started feeding her baby food. She moves her mouth slightly when food is in her mouth but not open her mouth for that yet even though she already does for her milk bottle and knows the bottle means 'FOOD.' He tells me to try to feed her food or ask if I fed her, but I haven't researched about baby food, how often feed, or how to feed a baby . I have a tendency that I cannot start a thing until I somehow have an idea of the thing and also how I'm gonna do about the thing. I don't do a good job anyway if I don't know what I am doing.

パパはどんどんいろんなことを先駆けて試しています。週末には庭のブランコに乗せました。まだちょっとブランコの楽しさはわからないらしいですねー。よくパパを尊敬するのは、パパは大きいことの時もあるし小さいことの時もあるけど楽しいことを思いつくというか楽しくしちゃうのかな。どこかに出かけたりお金掛けなくても楽しい週末にできるのです。アヤネの初めてのブランコでした。

He tries many new things with Ayane. They tried the swing in our backyard over the weekend. Ayane still doesn't understand the joy of the swing. I admire him many times. He comes up with fun stuff. Even a small thing, he makes the thing fun.

寝返り/Rolling over

アヤネは日本にいる間に寝返りができるようになりました。おばあちゃんが毎朝６時ごろに目を覚まして泣くアヤネをあやしてくれてから、ゴロリンゴロリンと転がろうとするアヤネをかまってくれていたおかげでしょうか。パパが全然触らなくてもゴロンと出来るようになりました。今ではアヤネがゴロゴロと転がろうとするからオムツがえが大変ねなりました。ちょっと前までうつぶせになると１分もたたずに苦しくて泣き出してたのに、今は何分もの間うつぶせになりひじを立てて首もチャンとピュンと立てて遊べるようになりました。

Ayane rolled over while we were in Japan. Obaa-chan (Nana in Japanese) took care of Ayane who woke up 5 or 6 in the morning everyday and she played with her trying to roll over. I am now having hard time to change her diaper. She did not like the Tummy time before and used to start crying within a minute but now she likes to lie on her belly. She lifts up her head well and plays with her toys.

指しゃぶり/Sucking her thumb

親指をチュパチュパやりました！！　私がバギーを押しながら道を歩いているといきなりパパが叫ぶので何かと思った。　今までは２，３本の指とかグーの手を全部口に入れてたのに、その日は親指だけを立ててチュパチュパ音を立てながらしゃぶっているではないですか！東京の街中で私たちは立ち止まり２人手をたたいて「イェーイ」と（親バカ）大声で喜びアヤネを称えました。

Ayane sucked her thumb for the first time!! Daddy screamed in the middle of the street in Tokyo while I was wheeling the stroller. She used to suck a couple of her fingers together or put her hand into her mouth. She was making sucking noise. Her proud parents stopped to give applause to our daughter saying "Yeeeeeeah!" in the busy street where everyone was watching.

東京の家族/Family in Tokyo

私が４ヶ月毎日毎日待ち望んでいたこと。遠く離れた日本にいる私の家族にアヤネを会わせること。インディアナ、ケンタッキー、そして飛行機を乗り継ぎ１０何時間かけて日本に着きました。飛行機大変だったけど会うためならなーんてことないな。写真の数が少なかった。ビデオを持っていったせいもあるかもしれないけど。昔パパが旅先で私が写真を取ろうとするのを嫌がった。どうして写真を撮るのか。今見る写真の数は少ないけどとてもよい楽しい旅行だった。写真なんて撮っている暇もない時間をすごした。

I was waiting for this everyday for 4 months. To let my family in Japan see Ayane. It took us ten something hours of plane ride with an infant to get there but I cannot compare seeing my family with my first child with anything. I didn't take many photos. Maybe it's because I took my video camera. My dad always hated me taking photos during the trips we took together. Why do we take photos!? It was a great trips even I don't have many photos to show you. I did not have time to take photos.
